5 Tips for Storing Your Medical Cannabis

So you’ve filled out the Registration Application. You’ve put in your first order. You’ve waited patiently for your package to arrive. After lots of anticipation, your medical cannabis is promptly delivered to your doorstep. Now what?

Since you want your medical cannabis to remain fresh for as long as possible, it’s important to store it properly. Below are five quick and easy tips for smart cannabis storage.

For those who often find themselves misplacing items, the first step is to make sure you find a storage container for your medical cannabis. Something not too big, not too small. Keep in mind that it’s a good idea to keep your accessories with your medical cannabis – that way everything is always in the same spot when you need it.

Use a glass container, if possible. Glass is a great choice for cannabis storage because it’s less porous than plastic, meaning it doesn’t absorb and give out scents as much as plastic does. It’s also an apt choice because most seals on glass containers make for a more airtight storage environment. If you’re opting for plastic we recommend using our Aurora Bottles (the same ones in which your medical cannabis flowers arrived) – they are made of a recycled grade 5 plastic that is harder and less porous than most.

Pick a container that’s portable. Since travelling with cannabis is allowed within Canadian borders, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t have your medicine with you when you’re away from home.

Store your cannabis in a dry, dark, and cool location. Although cannabis doesn’t expire, you can still encounter problems with mould (if it gets wet) and over drying (if it’s left exposed to air for too long). For that reason, we recommend keeping your medical cannabis out of extreme temperatures and humidity.

Most importantly, it’s critical that you store your cannabis somewhere that’s out of reach to children and animals. Remember to treat medical cannabis like any other medicine by always keeping it in a safe place, somewhere high up where curious hands can’t get ahold of it.
