Cannabis & Exercise

Unsurprisingly, it turns out the lazy stoner stereotype doesn’t have legs.

A recent study by the American Journal of Medicine found that regular cannabis consumers had fasting insulin levels (the amount of insulin in your body prior to eating) on average 16% lower than non-consumers. Not only that, cannabis consumers on average had lower insulin resistance levels by 17% and lower average waist circumferences. Since insulin is a hormone highly involved in metabolic function, the study shows that the cannabinoids in the cannabis plant help facilitate our metabolism – which is great news!

So what does this all have to do with exercise? Well, in addition to its ability to mediate metabolic activity, cannabis offers many potential pain-relieving effects. So while the stereotype may dictate the opposite, cannabis and exercise actually go hand in hand.

Nonetheless, we know it can sometimes be difficult to maintain an active lifestyle. That’s why we’ve decided to launch a contest to get all our clients back into the swing of healthy living.

In the spirit of National Health & Fitness Day 2018, Aurora is launching a photo contest! All you have to do is post a photo in the comments section of our Facebook post showing us how you stay active. It could be team sports. It could be morning jogs. It could be going for strolls on the beach or walking your dog. Whatever your choice, we want to see how you stay healthy.

The contest begins Monday, June 4th and closes Friday, June 8 at midnight (Pacific). Post a photo under the comments showing us how you stay healthy and you’ll be entered into a random draw for an Aurora branded gym bag. It couldn’t be easier!

For full rules and regulations, click here.

We want to encourage all our clients to take part in this exciting opportunity. If healthy living is important to you, this is your chance to show us why. Our contest is not limited to physical activities because keeping the mind healthy is just as important.

Once again, the contest closes Friday, June 8th at midnight. Visit our Facebook page to post today!
