This past weekend, Aurora came out to support the LGBTQ2+ community during the 39th annual Vancouver Pride celebration. Aurora has always been a strong supporter of the LGBTQ2+ community, and we were proud to be Silver Sponsors of this year’s event.

Our team has always felt that Pride Festivals are one of the most important events in Canada. Merging activism with celebration, the values of inclusivity, acceptance and compassion for marginalized peoples are values Aurora shares with the LGBTQ2+ community.

In anticipation of Pride 2017, Aurora’s LGBTQ2+ staff took the initiative to create a company-wide Pride committee to oversee our sponsorship plans for the celebration. Aurora’s Pride committee developed a plan to represent the company at the three largest Pride events in Vancouver; Eastside Pride, Davie Street Block Party and the Sunset Beach Festival.

At all three events, we gave away tons of Aurora branded swag such as frisbees, rainbow bracelets, condoms and sunglasses to thousands of ecstatic pride goers and we could barely keep up with the demand. To make our tents even more dynamic, we hosted a photo booth and two face painters.

But by far, what excited our team the most, was engaging with people on the street about medical cannabis. Breaking down barriers, and promoting inclusivity is what Aurora is all about. Having the chance to help share our common values with everyone who attended Pride was an amazing experience, and one we will not soon forget.
